Education, Training and Support
Working with our members, hoteliers and governments for the safety and well being of mutual customers
A modular health and safety training video which complements the code of practice has been produced and is used by industry experts, tour operators and suppliers for safety training purposes. The video which was filmed on location in a popular holiday resort explains what to look for when conducting inspections in a hotel environment.
In addition to structured inspection regimes, FTO and its members, work closely with suppliers, governments, tourist offices and stakeholders to inform, educate and train in the destination to raise awareness for positive change. Bespoke training programmes are written and delivered specifically for the training needs of the hotel, the resort or destination.
Tailor-made roadshows are conducted in resort to highlight destination specific issues. The seminars are attended by hoteliers, local safety experts, tourism officials and governmental representatives and have proved be an extremely positive means of building cohesive working relationships and addressing and solving issues.
We utilise independent technical experts to work with suppliers in order to find practicable solutions to hygiene, health and safety issues. For example: Chef implants have been utilised in hotels to provide on site training to food handlers, fire and structural engineers have been dispatched to advise to solve fire safety issues. CIEH basic food hygiene courses have been delivered in local language to raise awareness for the safe production of food.
We continue to strongly lobby the EU, national governments and local tourist authorities on safety issues.
We have a number of Publications & Training Material available for purchase should you require more in depth information.
